A good home office starts long before you pick a monitor. In Lagos, four things decide whether a setup works day to day: power, heat, light and space.
1. Plan for power first
List every device you will run and add up the wattage. Size your inverter or UPS for that load plus a margin, and keep sensitive equipment on a surge-protected line.
2. Manage heat
High-performance PCs and multiple screens add heat to a small room. Leave space behind the desk for airflow and position the PC away from direct sun.
3. Get the light right
Put the desk at a right angle to the window to avoid glare, and add a monitor light bar for evening work.
4. Measure before you buy
Measure the room, the desk depth and your viewing distance. A 34-inch ultrawide needs at least 70 cm of desk depth to be comfortable.
